Thamud 4

“How can we solve this troublesome problem?”  One member asked, looking intently at the face of the speaker
“We can only solve it by publicly facing Saleh and rebutting his arguments.”

The Final Bout

(54-24-28)(26-152)

“We are convinced that you are a liar and a boaster. We do not think that you are the only person who could be chosen by God to deliver his message. Moreover, you are alone.  Your advice is a piece of nonsense. Our gods have put a spell on you that are the cause of your senseless talk.” The nine leaders attacked Saleh one by one in a loud and angry voice. They wanted to intimidate him so that he could not speak. However, this technique failed completely and Saleh spoke calmly and said,

“Oh my nation, why do you insist upon going towards destruction. Act according to the law of Allah, and he will reward you. I am not asking any wages for my services. Very soon you will see who is a liar and boaster. Now, coming back to the immediate problem under discussion, these leaders have not created this earth. This planet is made by Allah, and he has created it for all his creations. These leaders have no right to starve the cattle of weak, powerless folks; similar in the case of water. The leaders of the nation have not created water; therefore, it is not any body’s personal property. It is a free gift from God and it is for everyone. No one has the right to take it under their personal control and deprive others of it.”

Saleh’s argument was so powerful and based on visible truth that the leaders were stunned and incapable of rebutting it. Viewing the situation, they realized their mistake in confronting Saleh publicly. It was too late.

  1. Even though it was too late, it was still nice to see them recognize the errors of their ways.
